Timelines

design and synchronise a sequence of events

Timelines in Multimedia Authoring montage

Synchronising activity and animation in your publication is easy and intuitive with our timeline object.

The timeline object lets you create a sequence of events with precise timing and synchronization. The whole sequence can then start automatically or be launched with one action. Placing a sound file on the timeline will display the waveform pattern and can be previewed so that actions can be synchronised with key points in the soundtrack.

Precision is Simple

A slider can be dragged along the timeline to find an exact position and then any of the existing Opus triggers and actions can be applied. Different "channels" to avoid the screen getting too cluttered or to allow you to design sub-sequences. WAV and MP3 format sound files can be placed on their own channel and the waveform can be visible and can be previewed in the timeline dialog to allow precise synchronization with the soundtrack. Or use the align options to automatically ensure selected events coincide.

Timelines can be set to loop for a set number of times and can be set to play automatically as part of the Properties settings. As with any object, timelines can be shown and hidden by actions on other objects. Alternatively timelines can be launched by a Start Timeline action.

Multimedia Timeline Settings

Timelines can also launch other timelines so you can set a series of actions which can be called in different orders if required.
