The Windows Registry is a database containing information about a computer’s configuration. The computer constantly uses this information during its operation. A typical registry will include information, such as: User Profiles Programs installed on the computer and user settings What hardware is attached to the system Opus can use the registry to write information to the user’s computer. This has three advantages: (i) information is retrieved very quickly; (ii) every computer has a registry and so it is a common place to store information; (iii) experienced developers can view the information in the Registry Editor window. You can see your registry by clicking the Start button on your desktop and selecting the Run… option. Type in the Open box of the Run dialog box the word regedit and click on the OK button. This will open the Registry Editor window WARNING: You should never attempt to change anything in the Registry unless you are an experienced computer developer. |
