Consolidated Resources – definition

When you add an image, cursor, video, animation, animated gif, sound or text file to an object, you have added a resource to the object and the file added is the resource file. The resource file still exists at its original location on your system i.e. in a folder on your machine or on a floppy disk or a network drive. This can cause problems if you move the resource file or it is not available (e.g. you have removed the floppy-disk or the network is down) – Opus will tell you, you have Missing Resources and the object cannot show the resource.

It is good practice to Consolidate Resources, which simply means any resource you add to an object is copied to a Resource folder for the publication – therefore it is always available. Once you have created a Resource folder you will be asked to save any newly added resources to it whenever you save or exit your publication.
