When you add an image, cursor, video, animation, animated gif, sound or text file to an object, you have added a resource to the object and the file added is the resource file. The resource file still exists at its original location on your system i.e. in a folder on your machine or on a floppy disk or a network drive. This can cause problems if you move the resource file or it is not available (e.g. you have removed the floppy-disk or the network is down) – Opus will tell you, you have Missing Resources and the object cannot show the resource. |
It is good practice to Consolidate Resources, which simply means any resource you add to an object is copied to a Resource folder for the publication – therefore it is always available. Once you have created a Resource folder you will be asked to save any newly added resources to it whenever you save or exit your publication. |
