The Type panel is used in conjunction with the Direction panel and Transparency panel.

The Type panel has two options:

Fade By will fade an object by a certain percentage – this will accumulate the effect the more times it is repeated.

Fade To will fade to an exact value between 0 and 100% – this will always stay at the same value once it has been applied.
