Each type of Creator object has its own properties and actions; however many elements are common to all types and it is possible to convert an object to another type while maintaining much of the original style.
This is most often used to convert text to vector graphics so that the individual letters can be manipulated or coloured separately. IN this instance – use a large font size to get the best quality vector from the conversion.
One example might be changing an image into a slideshow to liven up a page. After converting the image the new slideshow will have the same position, border, transparency and so on, and it is then simple to add extra images to the slideshow.
The conversion process will attempt to retain as much of the information as possible about an objects actions and visual styles, and in many cases will result in an identical looking object. However in some cases information will be lost - for example, converting a rollover to an image will result in a static image of the initial rollover state and the mouse over effects will be lost.
Select the object whose type you want to change.
Right-click on the object to display the context menu.
Select the Convert To… item to display the conversion options menu.
Select the desired type and the object will be converted. Be aware that in some cases this will result in no immediate visual effect except the object type icon in the Organiser will change.
Note:
Some conversions are not possible, such as from a video to a DocView or to the same type as the original object. If a conversion cannot be made those items will be greyed out.
Only text objects can be converted to a vector. No other object type supports this conversion.
